What Our Clients Have Said

ZA

Zulkifli Abd. Rahman

Retired Civil Servant, Petaling Jaya

I had been receiving letters from the pension division for months and did not know how to respond. I was worried I would say something wrong. Ahmad took his time going through everything with me at our first meeting, and by the end I understood exactly where I stood. It was the first time in a while I did not feel anxious about the whole thing. We decided to let them handle the correspondence, and things moved forward much more smoothly than I expected.

When my pension was reduced without a clear explanation, I did not know who to speak to. A friend recommended Naung Sejahtera. I was a little hesitant because I had never dealt with lawyers before. But Nurul was so patient and unhurried, and she explained everything in a way I could follow. We prepared a formal letter together and eventually the matter was reviewed. I felt looked after throughout.

Ho Swee Lim

Retired Bank Officer, Kuala Lumpur

I came for the Initial Consultation mainly just to understand my situation, with no plan to go further. The meeting was useful and clear — Ahmad went through my documents and gave me an honest picture of where things stood. In the end, I decided I could handle the next step myself, and they were entirely supportive of that. There was no attempt to sell me more than I needed. I appreciated that.

Rozita Mohd. Noor

Former Healthcare Worker, Cheras

My matter required formal proceedings and I was quite apprehensive about what that would involve. Kavitha explained every stage before it happened and was with me throughout the hearing. She was measured and prepared, and I did not feel out of my depth at any point. Knowing what to expect made an enormous difference. The outcome took a few months, but I felt well supported the whole time.

Krishnamurthy Subramaniam

Retired Lecturer, Subang Jaya

The process took a little longer than I had hoped, but I was informed at each point about why. The team was transparent about timelines and managed my expectations well rather than making promises that could not be kept. The correspondence they prepared on my behalf was thorough and well-organised. Overall I was satisfied with how the matter was handled.

Norizan Ahmad Tajudin

Former Administrator, Ampang

I had been putting off dealing with my pension dispute for over a year because I found it too stressful to think about. A colleague encouraged me to make an appointment for just a consultation — no commitment. That is what I did, and what a relief it was to sit with someone who understood the issue, was not alarmed by it, and could explain it calmly. I left knowing what I needed to do, and I did it with their help.

A Closer Look at Three Matters

Names and identifying details have been changed. These accounts reflect the nature and shape of matters we have handled.

Case Study 01

Pension Payment Withheld After Early Retirement

The Challenge

A client who had taken voluntary early retirement from public service found that her pension payments had been suspended. She had received two letters from the Pension Division but could not make sense of what they were asking for, and had not responded within the required period.

Our Approach

We began with an Initial Consultation to review the letters and assess the situation. We then engaged the Correspondence & Claims service to prepare a formal response, gather the documentation needed, and write to the Pension Division on her behalf with a clear account of her position and a request for reinstatement.

The Outcome

The Pension Division acknowledged the response within three weeks. Payments were reinstated approximately six weeks after our letter was submitted. The client described the experience as far less difficult than she had feared it would be. Total timeline: approximately 10 weeks from first meeting to resolution.

"I had been telling myself I would deal with it next week for months. I am glad I eventually picked up the phone."

Case Study 02

Disputed EPF Withdrawal Claim

The Challenge

A client approaching retirement age had submitted an EPF withdrawal application that was declined due to a discrepancy in his employment records. He was unsure how to address the discrepancy and was concerned about the effect on his retirement timing.

Our Approach

After an Initial Consultation, we identified the specific documentation required to resolve the discrepancy. We helped the client obtain the necessary records from his former employer and organised a structured submission to EPF addressing each point raised in the rejection notice.

The Outcome

The submission was accepted and the withdrawal was approved approximately five weeks after resubmission. The client was able to proceed with his retirement as originally planned. Total timeline: approximately 8 weeks from consultation to approval.

"What seemed like a huge obstacle turned out to be manageable once someone helped me understand what was actually needed."

Case Study 03

Formal Proceeding for Pension Entitlement Review

The Challenge

A client believed that his pension calculation had been based on an incorrect service period, resulting in a lower entitlement than he was owed. Informal correspondence had not produced a satisfactory response, and the matter required formal escalation.

Our Approach

We prepared a formal case setting out the basis of the client's entitlement claim, gathered supporting employment records, and represented the client at a formal review hearing. We prepared him for what the process would involve and liaised with all relevant parties on his behalf.

The Outcome

The review panel accepted that the calculation had not accounted for a qualifying service period. The client's pension entitlement was revised accordingly. The process took approximately four months from engagement to outcome. The client described feeling well prepared and not overwhelmed by the formal setting.

"I did not expect it to go in my favour. But it did, and I am glad I had someone steady beside me."
